Kuli'ou'ou Ridge (Full moon) - February 9, 2012

Technically the full moon was a couple days prior but we had to reschedule to today due to the bad weather we had. I met up with my cousin Jordan Kapu and his two friends Chantelle Paoa and Jacqui Noa-Cameron, at the end of Kalaau Place around 7:30pm.

We then started off on the trail into the valley and headed up the switchbacks that takes us up to the ridge, we got lost for a little bit but were able to backtrack our way onto the trail and continue up to the ridge were it was breezy.

Upon reaching the ridge we started heading towards the summit but took a nice break at the benches first. The ridge had a few uphill sections through some ironwoods. As we neared the summit we could see the moon to our right and the rest of the trail to the summit was a whole bunch of stairs. Once we reached the summit it was gusty and freezing cold! The summit of Kuli'ou'ou is all dirt which got blown into our eyes plenty of times and made it hard to really enjoy the view but it was still quite the sight during the night. Sadly, I forgot my remote for my camera so i had to set my ISO a little higher than normal. We didn't stay at the top for too long because everyone was freezing so we headed back down. It indeed was another good night in the mountains!
